USC puts top MotoGP rider to the test

Anyone who believes international motorcycle racers let their bikes do all the hard work can think again.

Testing by University of the Sunshine Coast scientists has shown that Rizla
Suzuki MotoGP rider Chris Vermeulen has the endurance capacity of an elite
athlete.

USC sport scientist Dr Mark Sayers, who teaches Bachelor of Exercise
Science, said the highly-ranked motorcyclist was put through his paces at
the University's Centre for Healthy Activities, Sport and Exercise (CHASE).

Dr Sayers said it was timely to test how effective Vermeulen's summer
training regime had been before he heads back to Europe to continue his busy
race and bike testing schedule.
